Born and raised in Texas, and a former military spouse, I have been afforded the opportunity to live and work with individuals and families all over the United States. I have a versatile background that lends itself to a broad therapeutic approach with a keen understanding of what makes people tick and how they cope with stress and trauma.
In today's multi-cultural environment and society, it is important for a clinician to be flexible, taking into account all of the factors that can pull a person in multiple directions. I work with clients to find a system of communication and approach to therapy that works for them. I firmly believe that true change comes from within. This involves addressing current, pressing behaviors and issues as well as discovering and healing the deep-seated issues from which our thought and behavior patterns stem.
I have worked in social services for over 15 years with a wide range of clients and services. I specialize in working with military members & family members, children, adolescents, and adults with trauma, severe anxiety/OCD, legal/forensic issues, adjustment issues, family issues, depression, self-esteem, codependency, personality disorders - especially Borderline Personality Disorder - and special needs. I utilize a variety of techniques including talk, movement, music, art, and play therapy (for adults too!).
I look forward to the privilege of helping you and/or your loved ones on their journey of healing and self-discovery. "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." ~African Proverb.
